Ultrasound-guided infiltration is a technique of fundamental importance for today's trauma specialist: it allows drugs to be placed with extremely high precision and minimal invasiveness in the necessary doses and concentrations to treat a specific condition, when indicated. On its own, however, it remains a purely technical act. The first consideration is whether it is truly necessary in the specific case; this is followed by planning and then execution of the therapeutic procedure.
The course aims to provide the essential decision-making and technical foundations for ultrasound-guided infiltration therapy in the musculoskeletal field.
For this reason, it begins with the topics of the different types of available drugs and the necessary equipment — two elements that must be consciously selected on a case-by-case basis.
Practical exercises on phantom models covering the fundamental infiltration techniques are included, followed by a description of their application at the various anatomical sites, together with the relevant therapeutic indications.
